For itemizers, the major changes the BBB brings are the extension of the TCJA tax cuts in 2026 and beyond, and the SALT deduction increase for those in state with high tax rates (eg, CA. NY, OR, MA, etc).
If you itemize we trust you have a good tax accountant (or are one) and should not need this at all, but we include a calculator to help remind you of how much more you could consider giving - ideally in 2025 to optimize your own tax benefits (see blog above). SALT is NOT included in the calculator - eg, if you live in a high tax state you get an added benefit.
By using this calculator you acknowledge that this is only rough, and release ropcubed.org of any liability resulting from inaccuracies or errors.
Remember - we do NOT store any data so take a screen shot or picture of your result or write it down! Please use your best estimate of your 2026 Taxable Income (income less itemized deductions).
The calculators here do not take into account many smaller changes such as reduced tip and overtime taxes, deductions for American car loans, etc. Moreover, if you itemize currently, you may not in future when the standard deduction increases. For an accurate assessment of the BBB impact on you please work with a professional. And to be very clear this is not a tax refund - it is the difference between what you will pay now that the bill has passed versus what you would have paid if it had not passed.
